Our "Padrino" and "Madrina" Literacy Partners
We believe in building partnerships with entities such as the Chamber of Commerce, the Public Libraries, the community colleges, school districts, corporations, foundations and City of Irving Departments, such as Parks and Recreations and Health and Human Services Agencies.
At DCET we believe strongly in linking parents helping educators and educators helping parents, which results in great effectiveness in the education of minority students. With the support of the private sector and other partnerships joining directly, we benefit the education of Hispanic youth and their families, which in turn benefits the overall community.
Our first community learning center LA ESCUELITA has been housed at SAVERS COST PLUS supermarket since 2000. We are very happy to have grown in partnership with Savers Cost Plus supermarkets. We are hoping we can open more ESCUELITAS inside of Mr. Dirk Stricklin's supermarket chain, partnering with him and his staff has been a blessing!
Dr. David Alameel and his wife, Martha
have contributed to the survival of our first ESCUELITA supporting our operating expenses since 2005, and have assisted other many literacy needs of our students.
The Alameel Foundation helped with the opening of another ESCUELITA with a donation of $5,000.00. Literacy Partners like the Alameels, whose generosity goes beyond the limits, make possible for our students to succeed in life becoming productive members of society.
