FAMA (Fine Arts Mentoring Amigos)
MENTORING at FAMA means constructive feedback and advice while supporting enthusiasm and interest through performing Fine Arts and Mentoring framework. All of which falls within DCET's Youth Leadership programming which is intended to inspire students' positive interests and goals while helping them maintain school attendance and classroom.

$10 Buys a Practice FAMA t-shirt for one student.

$20 Buys a Practice skirt for a dance student.

$50 Buys health care and hygiene supplies for a child for a year.

$100 Provides school supplies for one child for a year.

$300 Buys a tablet for a class to incorporate early technology learning and in-class assessments.

$500 Buys 50 new children’s music CD’s for song time.

Ms. Flores is a great role model for the FAMA students, the youth participants acts as mentors to an older person (mentee).
FAMA students have the opportunity to build skills in self-advocacy and conflict resolution including: music and dance activities requiring participants to work with both adult leaders and peers in planning, organizing, leading, and accounting for public presentation(s) of arts/cultural event(s); and Junior DCET Board participation. FAMA inspires positive interests and goals and help students maintain school attendance and classroom performance.

Mission: To increase understanding among DCET’s program participants of the value of leadership and mentoring and how to interact successfully in a variety of social situations within their new environment
A unique win/win relationship: while parents and grandparents study literacy, FAMA children sing, dance and play musical instruments in an adjoining area. Through these activities, children and youth learn to process, analyze and respond to sensory information through performing movements in artistic expression while having a safe and positive environment while parents study.
